The Winkler Lowy Foundation announced that its founder, Janine Lowy, has joined Milken Community School’s Antisemitism Ad Hoc Task Force.

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 31, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Winkler Lowy Foundation announced that its founder, Janine Lowy, has joined Milken Community School’s Antisemitism Ad Hoc Task Force.

Janine Lowy—an alumni parent who has served on the school’s board since 2015—will join other leaders from the Milken community to establish a strategic five-year plan. The group will work to strengthen students’ pride and knowledge of their Jewish history, heritage, and love of Israel, inspiring thoughtful and effective advocacy. The task force will ultimately support Milken’s students to become educational leaders in combating rising anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment on campus, in Los Angeles, and across the world.

“With the alarming rise in antisemitism and the responsibility Milken has as a national leader in shaping the Jewish future, there has never been a more urgent time for our school to build our program and increase resources to address this challenge,” said Sarah Shulkind, Ed.D., Head of School.

A member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees will chair the task force. The group will meet over the course of the following year to work alongside Milken Community School leadership to make an impact at the school and more broadly.

“Milken has always worked to prepare its students to confront antisemitism in the world, and the Antisemitism Ad Hoc Task Force will support the school in continuing to enhance its programming to address these issues,” said Janine Lowy. “As a parent of three Milken alumni and a passionate advocate for Israel, I am proud to join these efforts.”
