Middle school students from an aerospace-focused middle school in Centennial, Colorado, launched model rockets in a project-based learning experience.

CENTENNIAL, CO, November 09, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Learners (students) at Colorado SKIES Academy (CSA) recently had the opportunity to showcase their passion for aerospace and STEM education with a successful rocket launch event. The event, held on November 1, 2023 at the Arvada Associated Modelers (AAM) WestField brought together learners, staff, and parents for an exciting day of rocket launches and scientific exploration.

Under the guidance of Ms. Subba Pratti, a CSA science and math facilitator, and Dr. Jahveri, a renowned rocket scientist, approximately 30 learners and their parents gathered at the AAM to witness the culmination of their efforts. Despite slightly overcast and chilly weather, the launches were a resounding success, with all rockets launching successfully.

The event provided an opportunity for learners to not only showcase their rockets but also to learn valuable lessons in teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance. As the rockets soared into the sky, the crowd was captivated by the smoke trails, parachute ejections, and touchdowns. Although a few parachutes failed to deploy and one rocket was lost, the overall experience was a triumph for the learners and a testament to their dedication.

Colorado SKIES Academy’s rocket launch event highlights the school’s commitment to inspiring successful careers in the aerospace industry. By providing learners with hands-on experiences and access to industry professionals, CSA is preparing them for advanced secondary education and future success in the field.

“We are incredibly proud of our learners’ achievements and the effort they put into their rocket projects. This event not only showcased their creativity and scientific knowledge but also fostered a sense of excitement and curiosity about the aerospace industry,” said Ms. Pratti.
