LAKE CHARLES, LA, January 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — On January 7, 2022 a Lake Charles, Louisiana jury announced a $3.92 million verdict against a trucking company holding it responsible for a motorists injuries. The crash occurred on March 31, 2017. A truck driver with a suspended license drove into the back of Tracey Day’s vehicle which was slowing for backed traffic. This pushed the Day vehicle into the rear of a Lincoln Navigator.
Attorney J. Craig Jones & Craig Hill had to prove that the Peterbilt hit their client from behind and slammed her into a car in front of her. Their client had serious injuries and equally serious problems of proof due to conflicting witness stories.
Attorneys Jones and Hill worked to find lay witnesses who told real life vignettes about changes they saw in their client following the wreck. The lawyers streamlined evidence into an easy to follow sequence for the jury. J. Craig jones told the jury in opening statements – if the jury accepted that the crash happened as the evidence shows you could draw a nearly straight line to the injuries and losses. This was the first jury trial in 2022 and with the pandemic Jones and Hill knew the trial had to be fast and efficient.
Craig Jones & Craig Hill’s stewardship of the evidence, a fair trial judge who believed in letting parties slug it out and a jury who could see through bogus defense ensured justice prevailed. Jones & Hill won the day and got some serious justice. 3.92 million dollars for their client.
