Baseball Player Irv Carter IV Selected PG All American 2020
MIAMI, FL, August 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ — Irv Carter IV, a right hand pitcher from Boynton Beach Florida was selected to the Perfect Game All American Team 2020. Perfect Game, the premier youth baseball organization, has selected the top 50 high school baseball players in the country to participate in the Perfect Game All American Classic. The players were selected based on outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom. “It’s truly an honor to be selected as an All American, a goal that I have had since I was 12 years old,” says Carter. The prestigious East vs. West baseball game will be held at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Friday, September 4th, 2020 and will be streamed live on Perfectgame.TV at 4pm EST.
Carter will have the opportunity to showcase his pitching skills against some of the best players in the county and lead the East Team to victory. The game will benefit the Perfect Game Cares Foundation and the OK Kids Korral, a home for pediatric cancer patients founded by country recording artist, Toby Keith. During the celebratory weekend, Carter and the other All Americans will have the opportunity to meet these children, raise money, and lend their support. “In the past, I have had the opportunity to visit kids in the hospital, so I really look forward to spending quality time with the kids and hopefully giving them encouragement to push on, they are the true champions,” says Carter.
In addition to the kids, Carter is also playing in honor of his great grandfather, Edward Ellerbe, who was a catcher in the Negro Leagues. “My grandfather shared many stories about his father, he went to all my games, he would be very proud,” says Carter. As Major League Baseball commemorates the 100th anniversary of The Negro Leagues, it’s great to see more diversity on the field and how players like Carter are excelling to the next level in the game.
In spite of the coronavirus, Carter had a busy summer of baseball having been selected to the Area Code Games and East Coast Pro, both events are hosted by scouts for all 30 MLB teams. Carter showcased his 4 pitches, an advance change up, a fastball up to 95mph, while delivering deception with his unique leg timing. The future University of Miami pitcher, who was committed in the 8th grade, takes much of his success in stride and credits consistent, hard work for his success to date. Humbly stated, “I just love the game and if I am blessed to continue playing at the next level I will be more than pleased.”
